1 Introduction & Scope
1.1 These Terms and Conditions (the "Agreement") govern all professional driving tuition and assessment services provided by Colindale Driving School ("we", "our", "the school") to the registered pupil ("you", "the student"). By booking, enrolling in, or participating in any driving session, you agree to comply with and be bound by these Terms.
1.2 The school reserves the right to amend, update, or revise these Terms at any time to comply with DVSA guidelines or business standards. Continued booking of lessons constitutes agreement to the latest published version.
2 Registration & Enrolment
2.1 To enrol in driving instruction, you must provide complete and accurate personal information including your full legal name, telephone number, residential address, and email.
2.2 You must provide a valid UK Provisional Driving Licence (or appropriate international permit) before driving any school vehicle.
2.3 Lesson fees and block booking payments must be made strictly according to the agreed schedule outlined by the school.
3 Scheduling & 48-Hour Cancellation Policy
3.1 Lessons are scheduled strictly subject to instructor road availability. It is your responsibility to confirm the exact pick-up address and attend each session punctually.
3.2 Strict 48-Hour Cancellation Notice: You must provide a minimum of 48 hours' notice to cancel or reschedule any booked driving lesson. Cancellations made with less than 48 hours' notice will be charged at the full standard lesson rate to compensate the instructor for reserved road time.
3.3 Unforeseen Circumstances: The school reserves the right to postpone or reschedule lessons due to mechanical faults, instructor illness, or severe adverse weather (e.g. ice, snow, dangerous fog). In such situations, lessons will be rebooked at zero financial penalty to the learner.
4 Fees & Payments
4.1 Current hourly rates and block booking pricing are outlined on the website or confirmed directly by the instructor upon registration.
4.2 Payments must be settled prior to the start of each individual driving session via bank transfer or cash. Block bookings must be paid in full on or before lesson one.
4.3 Block booking discounts are valid for 6 months from the initial date of purchase and are non-transferable to other learners.
5 Code of Conduct
5.1 Pupils agree to conduct themselves in a responsible, courteous, and respectful manner at all times during driving sessions.
5.2 You must follow all legal driving instructions given by the instructor and strictly observe UK Highway Code traffic laws.
5.3 Punctuality: If you arrive late for a lesson, your session will conclude at the pre-booked finish time without a fee reduction. If you fail to arrive within 15 minutes of the agreed time without contact, the lesson will be declared forfeited.
6 Driver’s Licence Requirements
6.1 You must be at least 17 years old (or 16 if eligible under disability allowance) and hold a valid UK Provisional Driving Licence.
6.2 You are responsible for ensuring that your provisional driving licence remains valid and free from disqualifications.
7 Health & Safety
7.1 Eyesight Requirement: You must be able to read a modern UK vehicle number plate from a distance of 20 metres (with corrective glasses or contact lenses if necessary).
7.2 Fitness to Drive: You must inform the instructor of any medical conditions, injuries, or medications that could impair driving safety.
7.3 Zero Tolerance: The school reserves the immediate right to terminate a session without refund if the instructor suspects you are under the influence of alcohol, illegal drugs, or impairing substances.
8 Liability & Vehicle Insurance
8.1 School vehicles are fully insured for professional driver training and practical DVSA tests, including public liability and dual-control protection.
8.2 Practical Driving Tests: The instructor reserves the right to refuse the use of the school vehicle for a DVSA practical test if the pupil’s driving standard poses a hazard to public safety.
8.3 The school is not liable for test cancellations enacted independently by the DVSA due to examiner industrial action, illness, or road conditions.
9 Privacy & Data Protection (GDPR)
9.1 Colindale Driving School collects student contact and progress details solely for the operational delivery of driving instruction and booking administration.
9.2 Your personal information will never be sold or shared with external marketing parties. Test pass photos are only published on social media with explicit learner consent.
10 Student Expectations & Responsibilities
10.1 Learners are encouraged to maintain a proactive attitude, engage with Highway Code theory, and heed safety advice given by certified instructors.
10.2 You must inform your instructor promptly if you feel unwell or require modifications to your lesson pace.
11 Termination of Services
The school reserves the right to terminate instruction immediately in the event of persistent non-payment, dangerous or abusive conduct toward instructors or road users, or frequent short-notice cancellations.
12 Refund Policy
12.1 Unused prepaid hours from block booking packages may be refunded within the 6-month validity period, calculated by charging completed hours at the full standard hourly rate before refunding the remaining balance.
12.2 Lesson fees for sessions cancelled with less than 48 hours' notice are non-refundable.
13 Complaints Procedure
If you are dissatisfied with any aspect of your driving instruction, please notify school management in writing within 7 days of the incident at support@colindaledrivingschool.com. Every effort will be made to reach an equitable resolution promptly.
